‘Briseadh na Cloiche’

Glasgow Short Film Festival - CCA Glasgow

Friday 17 March 2017

We were delighted to hold the premiere screening of ‘Briseadh na Cloiche’ as part of the Glasgow Short Film Festival.

Ceòl ’s Craic’s first foray into film production is an adaption of John Murray’s landmark Gaelic short story reinterpreted for stage and screen by playwright Iain Macrae and director Duncan MacDonald.
A sold out audience watched the film which combines drama, dance and mime to portray the harrowing story of a collapsing relationship in the post war years. ‘Briseadh na Cloiche’ features outstanding performances from the aforementioned Macrae, actress Mairi Morrison and percussionist Alex Neilson who provides an inventive, interactive soundtrack.
The screening was followed by a fascinating Q & A session with the actors and director hosted by Gaelic broadcaster Derek Mackay.

‘Briseadh na Cloiche’ was funded jointly by MG ALBA and Creative Scotland.
